In case you haven't heard, there will be an addition to our family in October! I sent an email earlier this week to some of you but I do not have an address for everyone. And some of my addresses are apparently out of date. Oops!

We still haven't settled on a name and thought we’d have some fun polling everyone with the possible names we have chosen. This is NOT a vote, we have final say, brou-hoo-ha-ha-ha! Please tell us the name you like most and the name you like least. Feel free to express reasons, keeping in mind that the name you run down may be the name we end up choosing! However, one or more of the names may be a hoax. Keep in mind that we are 99% sure of the middle name Joan.

Hannah

Kathryn

Maureen

Nora

Rebekah

Evelyn

I hope Nora's a hoax! I knew something sounded funny putting those two names together...

I personally wouldn't choose Maureen (hoax, also?) or that spelling of Kathryn. So, my top picks are Hannah or Evelyn (not because of connections with either of those names--just my favorite of the options). Or go for Nora if you decide against Joan.

Real cut and dried answer...I know, I know. My usual indecisive self.

Snowed here today (not to mention hailed, sleeted, and rained). Anybody want to exchange weather with me?

I like Hannah and Nora (Norah Jones is cool! Which makes Nora Joan cool. Also, Wikipedia says that Norah Jones is the daughter of Ravi Shankar??? I didn't know that!) On the other hand, Suzan and Hannah, or Suzan and Kathryn, or Suzan and Rebecca (sp?) are all good sibling name pairs (does anyone else think that way- in terms of siblings? I think Ngaire and Liam are a brilliant pair, for example...)

Maureen and Evelyn are both cool and different- although the only Evelyn I knew was one of my friend's moms, so it's hard for me to think of it as a name of a baby.

So, my first choice would probably be Hannah (sounds nice with Joan and your last name, fits in with "Suzan," honors Aunt Hannah) or Nora. But I think the others (esp. Rebecca) are nice too.

Most importantly- CONGRATULATIONS on expecting another one!! We are so excited for you!

Love, Neb

Yeah, I thought about sibling name compatibility, too.

And I don't have anything particular against Nora Jones, but you'd have to really like her, I think, to use such a similar name combination for your own child. Heard about the Ravi Shankar connection last year on 60 Minutes. Weird!

Thanks Hannah and NEB for the opinions. We have had quite a time figuring out what we like. I was really hoping for a crazy debate popping up over here to liven things up. Boohoo. I can't believe more people aren't on the edge of their seat over this issue. Haha.
It almost seemed that the more we talked about these names over here the less we liked any of them. They are all great names in their way but none of them "sang" to me if you know what I mean. So for now, we are leaning towards a name not even on this list. We'll let you all know soon.
Oh, and Evelyn (though a beautiful name) is the only name we weren't truly considering. :) Surprise!
